Fun story. I travel for several weeks per year to Scottsdale AZ and visit Pheonix quite a bit. I even shot this video on improving your timing in west coast swing

A little history about the dance we love

West Coast Swing is a couple dance swing style after the Lindy Hop. Practiced for over 50 years in the United States, mainly on the west coast. It is characterized by 5 base passes, highly elastic movements of the partners, either individually or relative to another and finally a virtually permanent connection partners.

It leaves much to improvisation, to the fun and of course musicality. The solo dances dancers find a freedom of significant movement (the footstep of online dancer or body break dancer).

This dance experiencing exponential growth since it adapts to a wide range of musical styles: Pop, Funk, Dance, Country, Jazz, Blues, R & B, Disco, Rap, Rock, Hard Rock, Ragga and even Kizomba recently. On slow rhythms as fast from 80 to 120 BPM.

It therefore affects several generations and several cultural backgrounds and environments! Place of performance is huge both for the rider (leader) that the rider (follower). The latter is nevertheless development and enjoy more freedom. West Coast Swing “Social” that is in its dance form in the evening or dance practice. More information on this form here.
