The dictionary defines Passion this way….
1.Any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate.
2.Strong amorous feeling or desire; love; ardor.
3.A strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything:
a passion for music.
4.The object of such a fondness or desire:
Is dancing your passion?
Do you think your love of dancing qualifies as a passion? A true passion is not just a hobby. Its probably more like one step away from crazy! You do it because of the way it makes you feel. You are chasing that feeling right?
Sometimes your dancing doesn’t go just right and it frustrates you. But you don’t stop. You want that feeling. You can’t stop. You weather the storm because when its going well IT FEELS REALLY GOOD. You can’t get enough when your dancing is in that space.
Remember the first definition for passion in the dictionary. “A powerful or compelling emotion or feeling as love or hate.” Yes a true passion often has both love and hate. Along with the obsession comes a drive for perfection. That perfect feeling when the dance is going well. We are compelled by the dance to chase that feeling.
Embrace your passion
“It is obvious that we can no more explain a passion to a person who has never experienced it than we can explain light to the blind.” – T.S. Elliot
Not everyone will understand. Not everyone has the capacity to do what they love. Take it as a gift that you do. You are lucky. The desire to dance does not always last a lifetime. Embrace it as long as it speaks to you. Let it take over the wheel for a while and enjoy the ride!
I would like to know what covers “passion” for wcs.
For example…I ALWAYS tell everyone that I don’t “like” wcs…I “LOVE” it. Would this qualifies as having a passion for wcs?
However, my passion for wcs is NOT to be a top notch dancer/teacher, but, striving to be one of the best social dancer on the dance floor. Now does this still qualifies me as having a passion for wcs?
Thank you for reading this.

“I do not try to dance
better than anyone else.
I only try to dance better
than myself.”
Mikhail Baryshnikov
Hi Carlito!
Yes that would absolutely qualify as a passion in my book. I believe goals should be completely individual to each dancer. The struggle and climb towards those goals will be individual as well. Hopefully for all of us the process will be filled with growth and fun! Wishing you the best.
