West Coast Swing Los Angeles
West Coast Swing is a dance that has been going strong for years in Los Angeles, and continues to grow everyday. Originally derived from Lindy Hop influences, West Coast Swing was developed on the US West Coast, and now boasts as California’s State Dance. Traditionally danced to blues, this dance is also adapted to more modern music including, pop, disco, acoustic, and more.
Born in the 1950s and danced in the USA, West Coast Swing is a swing-style couples dance. In the early 2000s, young dancers brought this dance to life by dancing it to Pop, Rap, Dance, and R & B. Today, West Coast Swing is a growing dance style among everyone. With its flexibility, adaptability and freedom of expression, it is a huge hit with dancers, young and young at heart, across the board.

SoCal hosts West Coast Swing dances and provides swing dance lessons and classes in the Los Angeles/Long Beach/Orange County areas of Southern California. Sonny Watson has been in the West Coast Swing community for over 30 years. He has received many distinguished awards and placements in the WCS Professional divisions and strives to help as many people as possible learn West Coast Swing. He and long time friend, Kenny Wetzel, started Valley Swing Dance Club with that same goal in mind. The group offers private lessons as well as social and group class opportunities. Check them out!
