Knowing the history of this great swing dance

To help you fully understand the West Coast Swing dance, it is important that you know a bit about the history of dance. This dance is derived from Lindy Hop dance swing. Note that this dance is a type of slotted dance. This means that the dancer moves back and forth on the right along a slot or a rectangle.

Take time to listen to music from the West Coast:

It’s a good idea to listen to the rhythm of the music that usually accompanies this dance. If you have access to videos, look people in the execution of this dance. If you know a social club in your area, visit and personally see how people perform this energetic and fun dance.

Get help by visiting dance clubs:

Make sure that you choose a club that specializes in the social swing dancing. You can go upstairs and have fun following the movements. Do not worry and not to the movements correctly. At this point, you just have to feel what dancing is all about and evaluate the elastic quality of the swing dance.

Learn the basic steps of the dance:

In the West Coast dance, there is always a head and a follower. Knowing the basic steps of both the head and the follower. The most basic step coast swing dance sugar boost. For lead, the fall using the left foot, then again with the right. Then just press the left foot next to the other foot and move forward using the left foot to complete the sugar pushing step. On the other hand, the follower must move to the right and a step forward with the left foot. Press the right on the other foot and step back with the right foot. Note the lead and follower must perform this step once. Find lessons, articles or videos that help you with this basic step.

Master your anchor step:

Once you have mastered the sugar push, it’s time to control the anchor leg. If you lead, the anchor step is done by putting the weight on the right foot and place kick on the heel of the left at number five. Shift the weight to the left while keeping it anchored to the ground. Then, without moving your right foot, move the weight back. For its part, the follower, drilling is almost the same as the steps of the left, and right feet are reversed.

West Coast Swing dance is not only a fun and exciting dance. More importantly, it is very easy to learn and to perform. If you start today, you can be confident that you can be able to perform the dance at a party or gathering tonight.
