West Coast Swing Vancouver
West Coast Swing is a modern couples dance for all ages! It was a street dance with influences from Lindy Hop of the 1920s. Lindy Hop is associated with the Big Band orchestra era as well as a few contemporary favorites. Since its inception to present day, West Coast Swing has effectively followed the different musical trends all along the way.
In the 1970s, West Coast Swing added some dance elements from the Disco and the Hustle, as well. Since the 80s, West Coast has incorporated many elements of different dances from Pop, Hip Hop and Jazz. This gives it great versatility and makes it a fun dance for anyone to learn.
WCS is one of the most adaptable and flexible dances out there, but it can be tricky to pick up at first. You can dance it to many different types of music including pop, blues, hip hop, jazz, and more. If you’re interested in West Coast Swing, check out the links below to help you get started!
